Waking up everyday is a wonderful thing. I can’t be thankful enough for the people who are closest to me in my life right now. My employer has taken steps to make me a more effective employee for his company, my family is always supportive in my endeavors, and my friends are always looking out for me, have my best interests in mind, and try to keep me in good spirits. UFC 101 projected on a building

Last night I headed out to Lawton visited some friends and watched UFC 101.  It was good to see a few people who I hadn’t actually seen in a very long time!  I must admit though, I really only paid attention to two of the fights as much of my evening was spent drinking, eating, catching up, and playing classic arcade games.  I hope that the fundraising for Terry Shaw went well, the party was awesome.

Today I met ‘The Boz’!!!

The Mack & The Boz

The Mack & The Boz

This afternoon I met former Sooner Great and Oklahoma born Superstar Brian Bosworth.  It’s impressive to meet people from your own state who have made it up and out and into bigger places, it is even more impressive when they come off as humble and appreciative of their fans.

Glory DaysBig Man on Campus

I grabbed a Boz T-Shirt for my mom which he kindly signed.  He had 8×10’s of him from the late 80’s with his signature hair do and shades, I would have felt like I was imposing if I asked for one of those as well, but damn those glossys were sweet.  Maybe he’ll be around again and I can get one of those, and maybe then I’ll have the nerve to ask about that Bootlegger’s HBO project that was supposed to feature him.

I’m always amazed at how nervous and star struck I become.  I always end up just saying things like, “thank you, sir” or “This (thing person does) was really inspirational to me.”  I guess I’m just stand-offish in general, I’m afraid of how famous people are going to react.

Ricky Bryan (1962-2009)Ricky Bryan 1962-2009

The Boz was there to help the Ricky Bryan Foundation started in memory of the late Defensive Tackle.    Ricky Bryan played for OU and spent 9 years in the NFL with the Atlanta Falcons.  I’ve looked for any information on the Foundation online, but alas, it’s only been a week since Bryan’s death, I’ll probably update this post soon with information.

I wonder if I can get “Stone Cold” on Netflix.
